Pybus Foundation Announces Scholarship Fund in Memory of Robert Wilson, a Great Friend and Supporter of Pybus Public Market and Pybus Foundation.

A COLLECTION OF ROBERT’S ART WILL BE ON EXHIBIT IN THE LOCATEL EVENT CENTER UNTIL AUGUST 28

Pybus Foundation announced today the creation of a scholarship fund that will support formal art training from an artist or higher education schools. Two scholarships will be awarded each year to deserving students who are enrolled in an arts discipline, full or part-time. “Robert was an extraordinary artist and special friend to Pybus Market and the Foundation. The scholarship fund is a wonderful way honor Robert’s memory and for his life to continue making a difference in the community and in the arts he loved.”, said JoAnn Walker, Co-Founder Pybus Public Market and Pybus Foundation.

Robert George Wilson passed away on August 3rd, 2020 from complications after open heart surgery due to advanced heart disease.

Robert Wilson was best known as an abstract painter and artist. His work has been shown at the prestigious Francine Seders Gallery in Seattle as well as in many galleries in New York, Connecticut, Chicago and Atlanta. In and around his beloved adopted hometown of Wenatchee he showed at the Robert Graves Gallery, Gallery One and Pybus Market as well as at Two Rivers and Collapse Galleries. His highly praised, arresting work is in collections all over the United States and can be viewed at RRWilsonArt.com.

Robert and his wife Carla moved to Wenatchee in 2014 and he quickly became involved in the local art community. He was an active member of the Pybus Art, full of creative ideas. He served on the Boards of Two Rivers Gallery and Pybus Art. He was the visionary behind the Art Portfolio that was created last year and raised over $15,000 for Pybus Foundation. Upon completion of the new LocalTel Event Center, Robert worked tirelessly with local artists to show their art at Pybus Market. Michele Knutson, a new artist and student of Jan Cook Mack, with whimsical flair of beautiful colors excited Robert. She is his last work currently being shown in the Board Room at Pybus.

A collection of Robert’s art will be on exhibit in the LocalTel Event Center until August 28. The collection may be viewed daily between 9am and 5pm.
